Today we celebrate the power of reading, learning, and storytelling!
Literacy opens the door to imagination, knowledge, creativity, and endless opportunities. Every book read, story shared, and new word learned helps our Crocs grow into confident learners and lifelong readers.
At Jamaica Elementary, we are proud to support a love of reading and encourage our students to explore new worlds through books every day. Whether it's reading independently, with family, or in the classroom, every page turned is a step toward a brighter future. 💚🐊
Let's celebrate International Literacy Day by picking up a favorite book and enjoying the adventure that reading brings!

As we head into the holiday weekend, we'd like to remind our Jamaica Elementary families that there will be no school on Monday in observance of Labor Day.
Labor Day recognizes and celebrates the hard work and contributions of workers across our country who help our communities grow and thrive every day. It's also a wonderful opportunity to relax, spend time with family and friends, and enjoy a well-deserved long weekend.
We hope our Crocs and their families have a safe, fun, and restful holiday weekend. We look forward to seeing everyone back at school on Tuesday, ready for another great week of learning!
Enjoy your three-day weekend! 🐊💚

We’re excited to announce a NEW twist on one of our favorite Jamaica’s traditions!
This year, in lieu of our annual Jamie’s Pumpkin Patch, we’re bringing you…
🧡💜💚 JAMIE’S TRUNK OR TREAT FUN FAIR! 💚💜🧡
📅 Friday, October 16, 2026
⏰ 5:30–8:00 PM
And to make this event everything we know it can be, WE NEED YOU!
We’re looking for Jamie’s families, friends, clubs, groups, local businesses and community members to sign up to host a TRUNK or BOOTH at our Fun Fair!
✨ Decorate your trunk
🎯 Set up a quick game
👻 Create a kid-friendly spooky experience
🎨 Paint faces or offer temporary tattoos
✨ Add some sparkle with hair tinsel
🍬 Create a fun trick-or-treat stop
🎃 Or come up with something completely different!
We included a few ideas on our flyer to get those creative wheels turning, but the sky is the limit! Whether you go all-out or keep it simple, we want each stop to add a little something special to the night.
🍭 BONUS: Every registered trunk or booth will receive one LARGE bag of candy donated by Jamie’s PTSO to help get you started!
Our goal is to have at least 10–15 trunks and booths, and the more people who participate, the bigger and better this event becomes! Grab another family and create a trunk together, get your club involved, challenge your coworkers, or get your business out into the community. Team-ups are absolutely encouraged!
We’re also planning some of the fun games you’ve loved from Jamie’s Pumpkin Patch, plus a live DJ 🎧, The Kind Cup Coffee Truck ☕, trick-or-treating and plenty of family-friendly Halloween fun!
🏆 And yes… there will be a PRIZE for the BEST TRUNK/BOOTH!

🐊💚 MEET YOUR JAMAICA PTSO! 💚🐊
Meet the crew behind the planning, organizing, creating, budgeting, volunteering, and general chaos that makes the fun happen! 😂 We’re a mix of parents, former Jamaica parents, sports moms, creative minds, list makers and coffee drinkers—all with one thing in common: we love our school and the families we get to serve. ✨
💚 BROOKE MELCHER | PRESIDENT
My PTSO journey started 7 years ago when Tristen volun-convinced me to “just hop on” a Zoom meeting…and apparently I never left. 😂 I’ve been with my husband for 16 years, and we have three kids—two girls and a boy—plus two pup-children. 🐾 When I’m not at school or the gym, you’ll find me coaching or spectating at the soccer and baseball fields. I’m a workout and sports mama who somehow keeps all the chaos moving!
Fun fact: I make incredible sourdough bread! 🍞
💚 AMBER CARELLI | VICE PRESIDENT
I’ve been married for 20 years and am a proud mom of three—two boys and a girl. I joined PTSO kind of by accident…and somehow they convinced me to stay. 😂 When I’m not helping with PTSO, you can usually find me on the field supporting my kids and living the busy sports-mom life!
Fun fact: I only look super serious…I promise I’m friendly! 😉😂
💚 ROSIE LOTZOJ | TREASURER
I’ve been married for 17 years and am a mom of four—two boys and two girls! I may be in charge of the budget, but if something our school needs isn’t in it…there’s a good chance I’ll find a way to donate it anyway. 😂 Giving is my love language! I also make delicious horchata and choco flan and recently started making custom stickers.
Fun fact: I definitely fight with my kids—but I love them more than anything! 😂
💚 YVETTE GARAY | CO-TREASURER
I’m a proud boy mom and stay-at-home mom—which somehow means I’m always busy. 😂 I was part of Jamaica Elementary’s inaugural class in 2001, making this school especially meaningful to me! I joined PTSO in 2024 and love spending time with family, spreading good vibes and making memories.
Fun fact: I cannot live without coffee! ☕️
💚 NANCY WILLIAMS | SECRETARY
I’ve been with my Marine veteran for 17 years and am a mom to three amazing boys. My own elementary school days may be behind me, but I still love helping create special memories for Jamaica families! I’m an organizer at heart and the one keeping everyone on task when we start squirreling. 😂 When I’m not at school or working out, you’ll find me on a soccer field—often out of town—with my two youngest travel soccer players. ⚽️
Fun fact: I promise I’m way nicer than my face looks. 😉😂
💚 HAYDEN RODGER | EVENT COORDINATOR
I’ve called Lake Havasu City home for 26 years, and working with kids has always held a special place in my heart. My first job was with Parks & Rec at Jamaica Elementary, and I later followed another passion into cosmetology! ✂️ When I’m not working or planning something fun, I’m with my husband and our two girly pops. 💕
I’m excited to help bring dances, celebrations, family events and lots of special memories to life!
Fun fact: My first job with kids started right here at Jamaica—and now I get to bring that love of fun full circle! 🐊
💚 TRISTEN LARUE | SOCIAL MEDIA MANAGER
I’ve been involved with Jamaica PTSO for 7 years, and although my own elementary-school-mom era has ended, apparently my PTSO era has not. 😂 With nieces and nephews galore at Jamaica, I simply wasn’t allowed to retire—although I did make a brief attempt!
I’ve lived primarily in Lake Havasu for 26 years, have been with my husband for 15 years, and we’re raising two incredible daughters. I’m a proud Thunderbolt Middle School and Lake Havasu High School alum. I love using the creative side of my brain to design flyers, create content and find fun ways to celebrate our school. 💚
Fun fact: I’m a Leadership Lake Havasu Class of 2016 graduate and was honored as one of Havasu’s Top 30 Under 40 in 2019. ✨
🐊💚 That’s our crew! Different personalities and strengths—and probably way too many group messages 😂—but one shared goal: making Jamaica a special place for our students, staff and families.
Here’s to another year of events, memories and Croc spirit! ✨

Have you ever wondered what the PTSO does?
PTSO stands for Parent Teacher Student Organization, and our goal is simple: to support our students, teachers, staff, and school community. Through fundraising, volunteer efforts, school events, teacher appreciation initiatives, student programs, and community partnerships, we work together to help make Jamaica Elementary the best it can be.
Attending PTSO meetings is one of the best ways to stay informed, share ideas, learn about upcoming events, and have a voice in activities that directly impact our students. Whether you can volunteer often, occasionally, or simply want to stay connected, your input matters and everyone is welcome!
When families, teachers, staff, and community members work together, amazing things happen for our Crocs. 💚
We hope to see you there!

Every school day counts! While missing a day here and there may not seem like a big deal, those absences can quickly add up and impact a student's learning and success.
Being in school helps students build strong academic skills, stay connected with their teachers and classmates, and develop routines that support lifelong success. Every lesson, discussion, and activity is an opportunity to learn and grow.
Let's work together to help our Crocs show up, stay engaged, and make the most of every school day! 🐊💚
